9 Benefits of Using Sauna Treatment - by Dr Berg - Edited by the Blissy Team

Hey guys, today we're gonna talk about the sauna and using dry heat treatment to improve your health.

The benefit of using a dry sauna is quite extensive.

Let's start with number one:

1 - Increasing Blood Circulation.

The sympathetic nervous system, which is located in the adrenals and also to your back, and in your brain, basically open up the sweat glands, and as a survival mechanism, you're sweating, to cause evaporation to cool down the body but of course you're in the sauna, that's not going to happen but that's why you would sweat, because your body's reacting to the heat to cool it down, and this is called homeostasis.

Okay, so you have this blood flow vasodilation, you're moving a lot of blood through the body which is really good for circulation and for lymph flow.

2 - Detoxification

So then we have detox, so yes it is true that you will detoxify certain things from your body, but just realise this, the true deadly chemicals and the toxins in the body are more fat-soluble which means they're stuck in your fat cells.

So when you're doing, let's say, a session in the gym and you just dry sauna, these toxins are not going to be perspired.

A variety of other chemicals will come out but these more damaging toxins will require a more extensive programme, which will involve sauna treatment and certain nutrients and taking specific oils.

If you want more information on this, there is a book you can do a search on called ‘Clear Body Clear Mind’ and that's probably one of most extensive and most effective programmes out there for real detox and also drug rehab. Now we have the next sauna benefit with your sleep.

3 - Sleep

The amount of relaxation that can occur after sleep is huge, you're going to feel really relaxed, your stress is going to go down and your sleep is going to improve.

4 - Oxidative Stress

Okay, sauna treatment will decrease oxidative stress, because it’ll increase your own body's antioxidant levels.

5 - Muscle Tension

Sauna treatment will decrease muscle tension.

6 - Inflammation + Pain

Sauna treatment will decrease inflammation and as a consequence decrease pain.

7 - Mood

It can elevate your mood, and on top of that, I found that it can even increase your growth hormone.

 8 - Growth Hormone

There was a study in 1976 that shows that you can increase growth hormone by 140% with sauna treatment.

9 - Better Skin Health

The pores of the skin are left cleaner. The heat and the sweating we experience in the sauna activates the sebaceous glands in the skin layers.

The purpose of these glands is to keep the skin moisturised and lubricated.

By stimulating the production of sebum, regular sauna treatment helps keeping your largest organ in awesome shape.

Conclusion

I recommend that you use sauna treatment for between 5 and 20 minutes.

Between a temperature of 176 Fahrenheit to 212 Fahrenheit, or 80, to 100 Celsius.

You can do periodic steam, if there’s rocks - sprinkle some water and create a steam burst, and also realise that when you sweat, you're losing, not just electrolytes, you're losing sodium chloride mainly, but not potassium or magnesium.

So if you feel a little dizzy coming out of the sauna, just add a little salt in some water and drink slowly, and that will just pull you right out of it.

Alright guys, there you have it, that's my summary of the dry heat sauna.
